Apukka Resort is an Arctic wilderness hotel situated on the edge of Lapland’s capital, Rovaniemi. Just a 15-minute drive from both Santa Claus Village and the city center, travelers can enjoy the pristine Lappish nature in the surrounding lakes and forests.

Best known as the premier destination for Northern Lights holidays and for our distinctive glass igloos, our resort also offers a diverse range of nature-based activities. We provide over 70 guided tours  across four seasons, from August to early April. The best way to fully experience all we have to offer is with our holiday packages, which are organized by season and theme. Each package allows you to select your preferred accommodation and includes exciting activities, daily buffet breakfast, airport transfers, and more.

But which accommodation is right for you? At Apukka Resort, our glass igloos come in various shapes and sizes, all offering an unobstructed view of the Arctic sky. Aurora Cabin, our pioneering model, includes a private bathroom, setting it apart from some other glass igloos in Lapland. These cabins are popular with solo travelers, couples, and those traveling with a friend, thanks to the option to separate the twin beds. A pull-out sofa also makes it suitable for small families.

Seeking more living space? That’s where Aurora Cabin Queen and Aurora Cabin King come into play. These glass igloos feature a queen-sized bed and a king-sized bed, respectively. For larger families and groups of friends, we recommend Aurora Cabin Family, which accommodates up to six guests. The lake views, thanks to the close proximity of Lake Olkkajärvi, nicely complement the stunning sky views.

For sky watchers seeking something different, we offer two-storey glass igloo suites named Komsio Glass Igloo Suite and Kammi Glass Igloo Suite. In Komsio, the lower level features a bathroom with a shower, while the second level offers a stunning 360° sky view, placing you literally above most Aurora accommodations. Kammi takes it a step further with a more extensive seating area and a fully equipped kitchenette, making it an excellent choice for those traveling with family, as it accommodates up to four guests.

In addition to our glass igloos, we also offer Apukka Lakeview Suites  and Villa Apukka for a more familiar, home-like experience. The two-bedroom Lakeview Suites feature glass walls that provide an uninterrupted view of Lake Olkkajärvi. The largest of our accommodation options is Villa Apukka, which can host up to 14 people!

And when hunger strikes, our restaurants Aitta and Kota  welcome you with open arms and plates filled with Lappish delicacies. For drinks and snacks, visit the Lobby Bar Riihi, open from early morning to late night.

Whether you’re planning a day trip or an extended vacation in Lapland, Apukka Resort offers a wide range of bucket-list-worthy activities during the autumn and winter seasons. You’re sure to find something that suits your schedule, and all activities include transfers to and from Santa Claus Village and Rovaniemi city center. The Arctic wilderness surrounding us is our magnificent playground. Our private land and carefully created routes provide a safe and serene environment for all nature activities. Our guides immerse you in the Finnish way of life and share their deep connection with nature.

We offer activities in three different seasons:
Autumn :  1.9.-12.11
Early Winter : 13.11.-30.11.
Winter : 1.12.-7.4.

Autumn marks the start of the Aurora Borealis season and a time when Lapland’s nature dons vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red – the season of fall foliage. During this period, you can embark on a Northern Lights tour, encounter Arctic animals in our safaris, hike through the wilderness, or explore the landscape from the saddle of an eFatbike.

Winter arrives early in Apukka Resort, as we kick off our snow-based activities from November 13th onwards. If nature doesn’t provide us with sufficient snow, we’ll create it using stored snow and snow cannons. Join us for fun-filled experiences like husky tours, reindeer sleigh rides, snowmobile safaris, and much more. These tours offer a special chance to enjoy snowy activities ahead of the usual season.

When the winter season is in full swing, you’ll find our selection of winter activities expanding. Enjoy longer husky rides, a greater variety of Northern Lights tours , snowshoeing … There are simply too many things to do to list here!

For those interested in experiencing Finnish saunas, our variety of saunas are available for booking. You can try the traditional lakeside sauna with ice swimming or sauna with an outdoor jacuzzi. Please note that sauna reservations do not include transfers, but you can utilize our Apukka Shuttle Bus for transportation.
